Multi-skilled Operative

Airport project sites / Stansted Airport, Permanent, Full Time

Responsibilities

  • Minor maintenance activities to existing door installations
  • Maintain, repair or replace various types of locks – cylinder, combination locks & emergency escape push bar assemblies.
  • Flooring repairs – carpets, vinyl & hard tiles patching and replacement
  • Assist in emergency works – baggage – winter maintenance or incident response
  • Assisting retail concessionaires to replace, repair or relocate corporate branding & display units
  • Installation of timber frame hoardings and associated trims
  • Decorating – Emulsion, Gloss, Satin and external timber treatments
  • Minor installation and fit out activities – installation of shelving systems, construction of flat pack furniture and placement.
  • Repair to ceiling grid and tile replacement to suspended ceiling systems
  • Installation of picture frame access hatches to existing plasterboard ceiling systems including making good
  • Light repairs to plasterboard walls and ceilings
  • Construction of basic Gypframe partition walls to include taping and jointing of all joints and edges
  • Carpentry – installation of prefabricated door sets including architraves and skirting where required
  • Electrics – replacement of fluorescent and traditional lamps to existing luminaires – Portable Appliance Testing (P.A.T) preferred but not essential
  • Plumbing – replacement of taps to existing plumbing systems – identification of plumbing faults (leaks) and reporting back to Facilities Manager
  • Complete Point of Work Risk Assessments to support your work activities (training provided)
  • Report progress using company supplied mobile device – texting – emailing and media messages as appropriate.
  • Work in line with task Risk Assessment and method statement.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Must hold a current CSCS card – Trade related
  • 3 years’ experience within a similar role
  • Basic plumbing accreditation – NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds Level 2 Handy Man qualification or similar
  • Basic electrical accreditation – NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds Level 2 Handy Man qualification or similar
  • Basic carpentry accreditation – NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds Level 2 Handy Man qualification or similar
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to complete works in a timely manner or report issues as they arise.
  • Ability to plan and complete multiple tasks with a logical/ methodical approach
  • Must hold current driving license ( maximum of 3 points)

Working Environment

  • Reports to facilities manager
  • Flexible shifts – Includes weekend and night working
