LPL Receives SBTi Validation Ahead of World Environment Day

LPL Validate SBTi

This World Environment Day, we’re proud to announce a major milestone in our sustainability journey: LPL Construction Services has officially received validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a globally respected organisation that assesses and approves corporate climate targets in line with climate science.

This validation is a huge step forward for our business. It confirms that the carbon reduction targets we’ve set are ambitious, science-based, and aligned with the global effort to limit warming to 1.5°C, as outlined in the Paris Agreement.

What is the SBTi and Why Does it Matter?

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is the gold standard for corporate emissions reduction. It provides businesses with a clear, credible framework to set and validate targets that are consistent with what the latest climate science says is necessary to prevent the worst impacts of climate change.

To be approved by the SBTi, companies must demonstrate real, measurable commitments, not just ambitions. Targets must be science-aligned, time-bound, and supported by data.

That’s why receiving SBTi validation is such a significant achievement. It tells our clients, partners, and peers that LPL’s path to Net Zero is credible, independently verified, and globally recognised.

Our Approved Target

Following a six-month process of data capture, strategic planning, and detailed review, we’re proud to share the following approved wording from our SBTi validation:

LPL Construction Services commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions 60% by 2030 from a 2022 base year, and to measure and reduce its scope 3 emissions.

This target reflects our continued commitment to operational improvements rather than offsetting, and it lays a clear, accountable path toward reducing our environmental impact over the years to come.

A Collective Effort

This achievement is not the work of a single department, it reflects the collaboration and dedication of our entire team. Sustainability is one of LPL’s core brand pillars, and multiple teams have come together to help develop our Carbon Management Plan, calculate and verify data, and build a roadmap for change.

Receiving SBTi validation validates that hard work, and we’re proud to now be among the many companies worldwide that have had their climate action plans independently approved.

Although our validation won’t appear on the SBTi dashboard until 26 June, we felt World Environment Day was the perfect moment to share this news with our clients, colleagues, and community.
