Royal Free Hospital 4th Floor Roof Garden Project. This project involved the comprehensive manufacture, fabrication, and installation of a bespoke roof garden on the 4th floor. The garden includes a raised access paving system, bespoke planters, bench seating, and a pergola, all complemented by a Mediterranean planting scheme, creating a serene and practical area for the hospital staff.

Before constructing the garden, we addressed necessary repairs to the existing roof and applied a new liquid roofing membrane across the entire surface to ensure durability and protection. Structural remedial works were performed on the existing balustrade to guarantee safety and stability.

One of the significant challenges of the project was organising the logistics of a crane lift, which was essential for transporting materials to the roof. All timber used in the project received specialised fire treatment to comply with safety regulations. In addition, bespoke access doors were designed and installed to facilitate easy access to the roof’s HVAC equipment for maintenance purposes.

The roof garden serves as a recreational retreat for the Intensive Care Unit staff, offering them a much-needed space for relaxation and respite from their tireless efforts. Despite facing weather-related challenges, the project was completed on time and within budget, showcasing our commitment to high-quality craftsmanship and efficient project management.
