LPL was subcontracted by Kier to undertake works on the new college at Cambourne Village.
The works consisted of the construction of six new teaching blocks, new car parks, roads, a large attenuation pond, MUGA pitches and a sports field.
Storm drainage on the old buildings proved a challenge, however, LPL expertly diverted and overpumped the existing drainage system to keep it live, whilst the new drainage network was laid. LPL also excavated a 3,600m3 attenuation pond complete with liner and headwalls to support that new drainage.
4,100 lin m of drainage pipes were laid at a range of diameters and depths, as well as 7,500 lin m of ducts.
Above ground, nearly 7,000 m3 of concrete and 4,000m2 of paving slabs and block paving were laid.
The project was handed over on time as expected, and the quality of the work was a great contribution to the overarching development.
