Shoreline

LPL were tasked to complete a Design and Build contract for Stansted Airport. This was the second phase in the Stansted Transformation Project in which the Airport are undertaking works under the project name “Shoreline”. The project involved a significant interface with UKBF, staff, accommodation, operation, and systems.

The aim of the project was to improve passenger experience through the delivery of a modern desk design and technological advances in post check-in bag management systems.

The new desk arrangement and back of house systems formed part of the delivery strategy vision for how Stansted will be redeveloped through the transformation project. The delivery of these first check-in systems will validate the strategy for Stansted going forward, with all learnings from the delivery and in service use providing early confidence to the business.

This project was multi-faceted with a team of 50 people on site at peak construction. The LPL team of site staff undertook majority of the works and managed the MAG supply chain to ensure the works were fully coordinated and managed in line with the requirements of CDM 2015 and in line with the project plan. Works were completed to plan with a keen focus on delivery quality helping to ensure a fantastic end project with high quality finish, reduced snags which in turn lead to quick handover period to the operation.

The project covered over 3000m2 of terminal space which includes both Airside and Landside demise and plant room areas across the three floors of the terminal.

Early enabling works included the demolition of existing offices, retail and F&B units including primary service diversions along with the provision of new retail and F&B units to accommodate the affected tenants.

Stakeholder Management Plan helped to ensure all parties were kept updated on progress and engaged early to validate the delivery programme.
