LPL Construction Services Awarded ERS Bronze Award

We are proud to announce that LPL Construction Services has been formally recognised with the Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), a Ministry of Defence initiative that acknowledges employers who go above and beyond in their support for the Armed Forces community. This is a significant moment for our business, and one that reflects the values we have built LPL around since day one.

For us, this isn’t a PR exercise, it is a formal recognition of something we have always believed in: that the men and women who have served this country deserve a workplace that genuinely values what they bring, understands the demands of their background, and gives them the platform to build a rewarding second career in civilian life.

What the ERS Bronze Award Means

The ERS has a three-tier approach, Bronze, Silver, and Gold, recognising employers at each stage of their commitment to the Armed Forces community. It is a scheme designed to highlight organisations that are not just paying lip service to veteran employment, but are actively embedding that commitment into the way they recruit, operate, and support their people.

Achieving Bronze means we have met a clear set of criteria that demonstrate genuine, practical support. Specifically, we have:

• Formally pledged our support as an armed forces-friendly employer, making our position clear to job seekers, partners, and the wider industry
• Opened our recruitment processes to veterans, service leavers, and their families, removing the unnecessary barriers that can make the transition to civilian employment harder than it needs to be
• Put internal policies in place that actively support those moving from military to civilian roles, including dedicated provisions through the Career Transition Partnership (CTP)
• Created a supportive framework for Reservists within our team, ensuring they have the flexibility to meet their training commitments and the job security they need if called to active duty

Why the ERS Matters to LPL

The construction industry demands a great deal from the people who work in it. Projects are complex, timelines are tight, safety is non-negotiable, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team under pressure is essential. These are not qualities you can teach in a classroom. They are qualities that are forged through experience, and the Armed Forces community has them in abundance.

The qualities that define great military service, discipline, precision, adaptability, and a team-first mindset, are exactly the qualities that define great construction. Veterans bring world-class training in engineering, logistics, and site management, and we make sure those skills are properly recognised and put to work from day one. Rather than asking veterans to start from scratch, we focus on translating their experience into the civilian construction context, matching their technical grade to the right role and giving them the support to hit the ground running.

We also recognise that many service leavers continue their connection to the Armed Forces as Reservists, and we believe that deserves respect rather than inconvenience. LPL offers the flexibility needed for annual training commitments and has robust policies to ensure job security should a team member be called to active duty. Supporting our Reservists is not just the right thing to do, it is part of who we are.

Looking Ahead

This award is a milestone, not a finish line. Organisations can progress from Bronze through to Silver and Gold by meeting further criteria, including advocacy and demonstrable support for the Armed Forces community, and that is exactly the direction we are heading.
