As BSI Net Zero Week 2026 brings businesses across the UK together under the theme of “Turning Ambition into Action,” LPL Construction Services is demonstrating what that transition looks like on the ground.

For the construction sector, achieving Net Zero by 2050 requires tangible site infrastructure, long-term capital investment, and clear governance. Today, we are pleased to announce a major milestone in our decarbonisation roadmap: the successful commissioning of six new 11kW electric vehicle (EV) charging points at our central Elsenham site, bringing our total on-site provision to 10 active charging points.

Engineering the Infrastructure: Our Head Office Installation

Delivering infrastructure to support fleet electrification requires careful civil planning and operational continuity. This project represented a significant investment by LPL to ensure our central facilities can support a growing electric fleet:

  • Substation Connection: A dedicated power supply was installed underground from the local substation, running across our site and into the front parking area to feed a new on-site 3-phase, 200A feeder pillar.
  • Dual Charging Posts: Supplied and installed by EON, three new dual charging posts now deliver six 11kW charge points for company and commercial fleet vehicles.
  • 5-Week Delivery & Grid Resilience: The new power feeds were installed by UKPN over a five-week programme. To accommodate the necessary grid shutdown affecting the local substation, LPL deployed two mobile generators, ensuring both LPL and CORR Plant Hire operations continued without a single minute of operational disruption.
  • Commissioning: Following the installation of a new 3-phase meter, final meter commissioning and charger testing were completed smoothly and on schedule.

Aligning with Our Carbon Management Plan & SDG Strategy

As outlined in our 2025 Performance Review and Recovery Pathway, fleet decarbonisation is a vital pillar in reducing our Scope 1 direct fuel emissions toward our target of 200 tCO2e by 2030.

Our official reporting highlights the strategic necessity of this infrastructure:

Fleet decarbonisation forms a key element of our energy transition strategy. During 2026, LPL will commence a phased replacement of internal combustion engine vehicles with electric alternatives where operationally feasible. — LPL Sustainable Development Goals Report (SDG 7: Clean Energy)

While electrification will increase electricity demand and may result in a short-term rise in Scope 2 emissions, this reflects a structural shift away from diesel combustion (Scope 1) toward lower-carbon grid electricity. — LPL Carbon Management Plan (Scope 1 & 2 Strategy)

With eight fully electric vehicles already operating from our site, these ten charging posts lay the essential groundwork for further fleet renewal, helping us manage rising fuel costs while delivering verified, annual reductions in our fossil fuel dependency.
