Going Gold: LPL Construction Earns Top 5% Global EcoVadis Sustainability Rating
At LPL Construction, we have always believed that doing the job properly extends well beyond the build itself. It means taking responsibility for how we work, who we work with, and what we leave behind. This month, we received some independent confirmation that we are getting that right.
Following our 2026 sustainability assessment, LPL Construction has been awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal, placing us in the top 5% of all EcoVadis-rated businesses worldwide. This is a significant step up from the Silver rating we have held for the past two years, and we are genuinely proud of it. In a sector as resource-intensive and closely scrutinised as construction, achieving this level of third-party recognition means a great deal.
What is EcoVadis, and why does it matter?
EcoVadis is the world’s most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, covering more than 130,000 companies across 180+ countries and 220+ industries. Its purpose is straightforward: to assess how thoroughly a business has embedded responsible practice into the way it actually operates, not just what it says on paper.
Rather than accepting self-reported pledges, EcoVadis requires verifiable evidence. That distinction matters, and it is why the rating carries genuine weight with clients, developers, and supply chain partners.
In construction today, sustainability is not a nice-to-have. Clients, local authorities, and contractors rightly expect transparency across the full lifecycle of a project. An EcoVadis rating provides that in a form that is recognised globally. It tells our partners, clearly and credibly, how we manage environmental risk, look after our people, uphold ethical standards, and run our supply chain.
How the medal tiers work
The EcoVadis grading framework is deliberately demanding, and it moves in step with tightening international regulation and climate targets. Medals are awarded by percentile rank across the full population of rated businesses:
Platinum: Top 1%
Gold: Top 5% (where LPL Construction sits today)
Silver: Top 15% (our position for the previous two years)
Bronze: Top 35%
Our scores in detail
LPL Construction achieved an overall score of 81 out of 100, placing us at the 95th percentile globally. The EcoVadis framework assesses performance across four core themes, and our results across each reflect the breadth of work that has gone into this:
| EcoVadis Assessment Theme | LPL Score (out of 100) | Performance Tier |
|---|---|---|
| Sustainable Procurement | 84 | Outstanding Leadership |
| Labour and Human Rights | 82 | Advanced Excellence |
| Environment | 78 | High Performance |
| Ethics | 78 | High Performance |
Our strongest result was in Sustainable Procurement (84), reflecting the rigour we apply to vetting our supply chain, sourcing materials responsibly, and holding our partners to the same environmental standards we set for ourselves. Labour and Human Rights (82) is close behind, which speaks to the culture we have worked hard to build around safety, fairness, and open communication on site.
The evidence behind the rating
A Gold Medal is not awarded on the strength of good intentions. EcoVadis demands documentation that holds up to serious external scrutiny, and our 2026 result was underpinned by three key frameworks.
Our SDG Report maps our operational activity directly to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, linking our waste reduction targets, carbon offset work, and community engagement to the wider global effort. It demonstrates to auditors that our day-to-day decisions are shaped by those commitments, not just aligned to them on paper.
Our Social Dialogue Report was central to our Labour and Human Rights score of 82. It sets out how we maintain open, transparent communication between management, site operatives, and trade representatives, and evidences our commitment to worker welfare, diversity, health and safety, and collaborative feedback at every level of the business.
Our Carbon Management Plan provided the empirical data to support our environmental claims, detailing our approach to reducing Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, transitioning to more energy-efficient plant and machinery, and reducing waste on site.
A team effort
A result like this does not happen overnight, and it is not the work of one person or one department. It reflects a full year of consistent, disciplined effort across every site and every office. The volume and precision of work required to capture, verify, and present our business data to the standard EcoVadis demands is considerable, and she brings the same care to that process as our teams bring to the builds themselves.
But this medal belongs to everyone at LPL.
To our site managers, applying environmental protocols day in, day out. To our procurement team, holding suppliers to our ethical standards without exception. To our operatives, who keep safety and communication at the front of everything they do. The data we submitted to EcoVadis was simply a record of the work you were already doing. This result is yours.
What comes next
We will take a moment to mark this achievement, but we will not be resting on it. The Gold Medal sets a new baseline, not a finishing line. Through the 2026-2027 reporting year, we will continue refining our processes, raising our standards, and working to give our clients the highest level of assurance we can. Thank you to our clients, our supply chain partners, and the whole LPL team. This is what we can do when we all pull in the same direction.
