In June 2019, with the Climate Change Act 2008 (2050 Target Amendment) Order 2019, the Government committed to a 100% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 compared with 1990 levels. This is referred to as the Net Zero Target. COP27 and the 2022 Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction fifinds the sector accounts for 34% of energy demand and 37% of energy process-related CO2 emissions through 2021 (globally).

In addition to the above, the European building sector represents 40% of Europe’s energy demand, 80% of that from non-renewable, fossil fuel sources.

Energy Statement

Lpl construction services understand that decarbonizing the building sector. By 2050 is critical and to reduce overall emissions, the sector must improve building energy performance. This can be achieved at a corporate level through:

  • New technologies and building products.
  • Decreasing the carbon footprint from building materials through
    the utilization of products available from within the UK.
  • Cognizant of new ideas and strategies to support the Net Zero Target.
  • Building effificiencies through design and whole life cycle analysis.

In support of the above LPL Construction Services medium to long term objectives are:

  • Commit organizational resources to energy management.
  • Continually improve energy performance inside the organisation.
  • Promote energy effificiency through the supply chain.
  • Review energy effificiency investments.
  • Review and seek to procure energy from renewable resources.
  • Audit to ensure personnel are familiar with and understand the Energy Management Plan.
  • Reduce CO2e emissions.

Our short-term objectives are:

  • Establish current CO2e emissions.
  • Develop and publish an Energy Management Plan.
  • Monitor energy usage quarterly.
  • Comply with energy related legislation, standards &best practice at a corporate level.
  • Promote energy effificiency through consultation with employees at an individual level.
  • Provide environmental awareness training for employees.
  • Consider a life cycle perspective when designing.
  • Support, along with the supply chain and procurement policy, the purchase of energy effificient products and services and design for energy performance improvement.

This policy will be reviewed annually or whenever any signifificant change occurs within the organisation or whenever a legislative change requires and will have an impact upon the policy.
